Overcoming Injury: My Journey Back to Strength

Overcoming Injury: My Journey Back to Strength

I’ve had surgery on six different places in my hand—the most recent just 3 months ago. Each recovery has been a challenge. I couldn't grip a bar, hold a weight, or do so many things I used to take for granted. This round has taken longer than planned, and it would have been easy to give up. But instead of focusing on what I couldn’t do, I focused on what I could.

Why Strength Training Matters

When setbacks happen, it’s easy to feel stuck. But strength training has taught me how to adapt, train smarter, and move with purpose. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, I found ways to keep building strength and confidence—even when my grip was nonexistent (no, I can’t roll yet).

Train Smarter, Not Just Harder

Recovery isn’t just about waiting—it’s about finding ways to keep moving forward. I shifted my focus to lower body work, core stability, and exercises that didn’t require heavy gripping (zercher everything). I learned to reinforced movement patterns in ways that would make me even stronger when I got back to full capacity.

Come Back Stronger

Setbacks don’t have to stop you. Whether it’s an injury, surgery, or just a rough season, there’s always a way to keep progressing. Strength training isn’t just about lifting weights—it’s about resilience, adaptability, and pushing forward even when things don’t go as planned.

Keep Moving Forward

If you’re facing a setback and aren’t sure how to keep moving forward, I’ve been there. Let’s train smarter, rebuild strength, and come back better than ever!
